1st Symposium of Fair Winds Collective

Review

Our first symposium was an enriching experience, bringing together passionate individuals dedicated to advancing sustainable shipping practices.

We invite every sustainable sailing project to reach out to us, to let the network grow.

Recap of the Symposium

The event was a melting pot of ideas, featuring an impressive lineup of participants, including maritime journalists, naval architects, and advocates for sustainable shipping.

Here’s a brief overview of the discussions and insights shared

1. Overview of Participants

We were fortunate to have a diverse range of experts, including Ron Vos, a renowned maritime journalist; Bill from the Guild of Ships; and representatives from innovative projects like Raybel Charters, Hawila, Kaap Kargo, EcoClipper, Tilvera Expeditions and The Ocean Movement.

2. Wishes, Thoughts, and Ideas

A recurring theme was the importance of transparency and connectivity in shipping. By fostering collaboration, we can optimize routes and enhance efficiency, minimizing overlaps. Participants also emphasized the need for more investment in clean shipping initiatives.

Discussions also explored potential regulatory developments, including a sailing cargo vessel code with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), and the exciting possibility of developing an app to connect cargo owners with sailing vessels for efficient transport.

Additionally, we highlighted the need for educational resources that promote wind propulsion, alongside strategies to attract attention and support from larger organizations.

3. Upcoming Exhibitions

Exciting exhibitions are planned in Hamburg and Amsterdam. For more details, please contact peggy@fairwindscollective.com.
