Fair Winds Collective invites you to Flags of Hope, a hands-on, participatory program that turns personal messages into a global statement for the oceans.
Participants of all ages are invited to design and create flags on canvas, expressing their hopes, ideas, and commitments for ocean conservation, climate action, and a sustainable future.
Once completed, these flags will be hoisted on emission-free sailing vessels and, starting in 2026 to sail across the Atlantic or northern Europe. Each flag transforms individual voices into a visible, moving symbol of courage, creativity, and responsibility. By combining art, education, interviews and action.
The program connects people to the ocean as a shared, living space and demonstrates that small, tangible acts can make a big impact.
Our workshops are designed for everyone – families, students, professionals, and ocean enthusiasts. Materials like sailcloth, fabric markers, and paints are safe, reusable, and suitable for all skill levels.
Participants will not only create their own flags but also contribute to a collective story of sustainability that will travel beyond.
Practical Details
Flags are approximately 50×70 cm and durable for outdoor display.
Workshops require tables, seating, and a sheltered creative space.
Facilitators guide participants to ensure a safe and accessible experience.
Flags will be displayed on partner sailing vessels and during public storytelling events.
We’re looking forward to sharing this journey with you at Boot Düsseldorf, where we’ll host three days of workshops, and beyond, as the Flags of Hope travel from Europe across the Atlantic.
