A Call for Support and Reflection

After a well-earned Ferragosto break, the Brigantes is coming back to life. Work on the ship has resumed at the shipyard, and the first steps toward making her seaworthy again have been taken. Standing beneath the hull once more, listening to shipmaster Roberto explain the tasks ahead, brought back a flood of memories—of the challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned since the very first christening of Brigantes.
We’ve come a long way. Mistakes have been costly, but we’re not letting that stop us. As Oscar Kravina, co-founder of the initiative, puts it:
“The journey continues,” says Fitzcarraldo after the Indios' coming in the movie of the same name. We don't want it to end like in that film—but still, we move forward, with everything we have.
Not Just a Ship — A Statement
Brigantes has always been more than a vessel. She’s part of a larger vision—one that goes far beyond lowering CO₂ emissions. It’s about offering a counter-narrative to the profit-driven system that’s dominated global trade for too long. It's about creating a meaningful, responsible, and sustainable way to transport goods across oceans. A way that respects both people and planet.
Late one evening, Oscar reflected on the core question behind Sail Cargo—why?
“It’s more than less CO₂; it’s a counter-proposal, a part of a much larger movement of responsible contemporaries who are fed up with the pure profit orientation. We strive for a life worth living, a world and a future worth living—and are willing to do anything to achieve it.”
This is the mission Brigantes represents, and it’s why we’re asking for your support once again.
A Community Effort: We Need You
Launching our own product line in Italy is the next critical step for Brigantes. And while we’re excited about this phase, we’re aware that a false start could be disastrous. That’s why we need your help to keep the project afloat—both literally and figuratively.
“Brigantes still needs financial help,” Oscar writes. “Every amount helps. And when the ship finally sails, you’ll be able to say: ‘I was there, even in the hardest moments, when everything seemed lost.’”
